THE STORY
A place shaped by vision and land.
Hear the story of the land, the vision, and what makes this place unlike anywhere else.
"A secure, deeply considered sanctuary where nature, wellbeing, and design exist in balance."
THE VISION
A place where people live not just on the land, but with it.
The Plateau is a private sanctuary elevated above Hokitika's dramatic coastline, created for those drawn to a quieter, more intentional way of living.

Here, the land leads. Native bush, birdsong, coastal light and the distant line of the Southern Alps shape a landscape where privacy, restoration and architecture are held in careful balance.

This is not conventional lifestyle land. It is a place with a shared vision — to live with the land, not simply on it.

WHAT ENDURES
A Living Legacy
What makes The Plateau rare is not only its setting, but the care taken to protect it over time. A place that feels both grounded and remarkably free, designed not just for now, but for generations to come.

01
A Landscape in Renewal
Shaped first by glacier and forest, then marked by the gold rush. Its next chapter is quieter,
restoring what was disturbed and honouring what endures.
Here, the land is given space to recover, regenerate and settle back into its natural rhythm.

02
Architecture that Belongs
Homes at The Plateau are shaped by high-performing, organic architecture, natural materials
and a deep respect for the land. Each one designed to touch the land lightly and sit gently within its surroundings.

03
Protecting What Matters
A carefully considered covenant helps protect the quiet, natural character of The Plateau,
keeping the landscape open, calm and connected. With fewer domestic interruptions, the setting can remain grounded in nature for everyone, over time.

THE LAND
Naturally elevated. Thoughtfully placed.
Set on elevated ground, with its highest points reaching more than 80 metres above sea level, The Plateau opens to expansive outlooks across the Tasman Sea and towards the Southern Alps.

The land’s natural contours and gradients allow rainfall to move through the landscape as intended, supporting natural drainage across the site. Set back and elevated from Hokitika’s coastline, The Plateau offers a sense of openness, privacy and reassurance, while remaining only minutes from town and the airport.
THE HOMES
Where high-performing architecture meets thoughtful design.
The homes at The Plateau are designed to belong to their setting, not compete with it. Each responds to the contours, light and outlook of its site, creating a natural connection between the spaces within and the landscape beyond.
Guided by the principles of high-performing organic architecture, the homes combine considered orientation, enduring materials and quiet, refined forms. The result is a collection of residences that feel calm, private and naturally at home on the West Coast.
A shared architectural vision brings coherence to the community, while allowing each home to reflect the people who live there.
